In January 1996, Carey Blanchard Daniel, the marketing director for Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate Company, turned 20 – just eleven days after an epic winter storm dumped more than two feet of snow on Charlottesville where Carey was enrolled at the University of Virginia. Luckily for Carey, the university’s January term had not yet begun so she was able to blow out the candles on her cake in Augusta with her parents and brother, Tom III. Carey loved her time at UVA, studying on the steps of Mr. Jefferson’s Rotunda, cheering on her beloved Cavaliers at Scott Stadium, and hanging out with friends at the Corner. After graduation, Carey lived and worked in New York City as an assistant buyer for Macys. In 1999, armed with a degree in business, Carey returned to Augusta for good and joined the real estate company founded by her great grandfather a century ago. Today, we celebrate Carey turning 20 again – her twentieth work anniversary at B&C – and we salute her leadership of the company’s marketing efforts, her quiet confidence, and her commitment to building community within the Blanchard and Calhoun family of businesses. Happy workiversary, Carey! Twenty looks good on you.
