HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, BIG GEORGE AND NINA

We’ve talked a lot this year about the partnership of George Blanchard and Francis Calhoun, a union forged a century ago between a pair of likeminded businessmen who shared a love of real estate. Two years before Blanchard and Calhoun joined forces, young George entered into another lasting union: his marriage to the charming Miss Nina Maxwell. George and Nina exchanged vows at high noon on this day in 1917 at the home of bride’s mother, a celebration hailed as “one of the most beautiful home weddings of the season.” They spent more than 40 years together, growing a business and a family, before George passed away in 1958. So while we celebrate our company’s 100th birthday, we also raise a glass to the love story of Big George and Nina, the original family in the Blanchard and Calhoun family of businesses.
