Over the past 50 years, TaxSlayer has dramatically changed the landscape of their industry, turning millions of tax payers into tax slayers. Last month, the national tax preparation and financial technology firm dramatically changed the landscape of downtown Augusta with the unveiling of their new Innovation and Technology Campus, 50,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed modern office space with a capacity for 200 technology employees. When President and CEO Brian Rhodes and his team decided to expand beyond their Evans location, they turned to Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial for assistance. Under the leadership of Davis Beman, Blanchard and Calhoun’s commercial division provides an extensive array of services to their clients, including asset and property management, sales and acquisition, site selection, leasing, and construction and development. It was Beman who worked with Rhodes and the TaxSlayer team to seal the deal that brought new life and energy to the former Family Y building at 945 Broad Street. “Davis allowed us to take our vision of a modern tech space in Augusta and make it a reality with a nod to the history and charm of the former YMCA,” said Rhodes. “We intentionally planted our stake in downtown Augusta and believe this investment further demonstrates our commitment to Augusta.” As so many people have noted since TaxSlayer’s big reveal, this is a big deal for downtown Augusta. “When you have a national company like TaxSlayer come downtown,” said Beman, “it shows how the infrastructure is ready for other companies to follow.” We’re mighty proud of the part we played in positioning a growing national powerhouse of a business in the heart of downtown Augusta – where so many of us live, work, play, and now slay.
